St. Joseph High School swimmers sent a strong message to their competitors in the NIC and the state as they had incredible performances at the 2017 Indiana Open Water State Championships at Morse Reservoir in Noblesville yesterday.
Mary Cate Pruitt earned her fourth state championship in the 2 mile event and unofficially placed first overall with men and women’s performances combined.
Ryan Drew demonstrated her toughness and efficiency by breaking from a pack midway and finishing 7th in the 3.2 mile event.
Emma Feltzer suprised all by placing 4th in the 2 mile event and unofficially recording the fastest closing 500 yards of all the competitors.
Aislinn Walsh teamed with Penn High School stand-out, Caroline Marks, to complete the 3.2 mile event and place 17th and 18th respectively. Walsh credits Marks for navigating the choppy waters for the pair throughout the two-hour swim.
