Saint Joseph High School
St. Joe fought hard against the Penn Kingsmen, but the depth of the 6A school wore down the smaller team’s stamina on a hot night in Mishawaka. The only score came on an Evan Price pass to Riley Hacker as the Indians fell 28-6 at Freed Field.
Penn jumped to a quick lead after a cutback led to a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. St. Joe answered with a recovery of a muffed punt. That led to St. Joe's Evan Price connecting with Riley Hacker for the Indians lone score of the game.
A turnover and a long drive helped Penn rise to a 21-6 lead at the half.
St. Joe continued to fight, but injuries mounted and St. Joe could not muster enough push to overcome the deficit.
The 4th quarter was played to a stalemate as the Kingsmen emerged the winners of the mid-season battle.
