Saint Joseph Football has taught many things. One of the main things he has taught me is that discipline, focus and determination are vital for sports. Football is a mental game and like many things an individual has to take the time to study it. I have to take the time to know my opponent, so I watch film. The great philosopher named Sun Tzu wrote the Art of War and said, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” Football has taught me to take the time to do my research on my opponent.

This is why Football means a great amount to me. The lessons I get while playing the sport are valuable because I can apply them to real life. I now realize that I need to put myself in the best position to be successful in all aspects of my life. This includes school, sports and family. Football at many times is a state of mind and I always put myself at the peak in terms of my mentality.  I do this to help support my brothers every Friday night.
