All the way through middle school, my neighborhood friends and I would pack into a car and attend every Saint Joe game, home or away. Whether it was playing catch on the side, sitting in the bleachers, or just talking to friends from different schools; it was Saint Joe football drove us all together. While not having any family previously attend Saint Joe, I knew it had to be the place for me because of football. Saint Joe football brings the community to come together.

Saint Joe football has taught me many lessons through my high school career. The best lesson that I have learned though is when times get tough just to keep persevering until you reach your final goal. One thing that is unique about the football team at Saint Joe is the brotherhood that it has. Not one person is excluded from this tight-knit team that the program has every year. Football is year round sport such as lifting weights in winter, summer practices, and all through the normal season. I am with my best friends everyday and only football would allow me to do this. With all these practices, the team gains chemistry and trust so that we can prevail in the post season.

The past few seasons I have played multiple positions on offense and defense. But what I like most about that is all of the coaches who have helped me. I wouldn’t be the player or the person I am today without them. They have helped me flourish and when something isn’t right they have helped me analyze and correct my mistakes. Football means so much to me and I would never trade my Saint Joe football experience for anything. The sport of football is valuable and only select people have what it takes to play. As Vince Lombardi once said, “Football is like life – it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority”. All these qualities are present in every Saint Joe football player.
