Multiple Teams · Winter Speed and Movement Training Sessions


Winter speed and movement sessions will continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for all out of season student athletes. Sessions last from 3:35-4:40 pm. Workouts will follow the format below and be led by 17 year Head Track & Field/Cross Country Coach Mike McCarthy:

  1. Breathing exercises
  2. Neurological activation sequencing
  3. Barefoot strength and balance exercises (Vestibular system)
  4. RPR
  5. Wicket runs/Sprint Mechanics
  6. Timed sprints using the Freelap system

Grades 9-12, girls and boys, V, JV, and Freshman who aim for performance improvement should regularly attend.

FINAL THOUGHT: The only way to become fast is to RUN fast several times a week. Speed can not be developed without this commitment and is a rarely taught skill in team sports. Make the commitment to becoming a faster athlete by attending.
