Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls Cross Country, Zach Taylor Advance to Semistate

Against the highest level of competition this season both St. Joe girls and boys cross country teams recorded season best average team times at the IHSAA Regional Saturday. The girls team advanced to Semistate by placing 5th in the field. The girls top three finished within 5 seconds of each other and combined with PR’s from Ava Rousseve, Mary Clare Elliot, and Lexi Juday helped push the team to their first semistate appearance since 2011. The top five average team time of 21:19 was the fastest this season.

The boys team ran a season best average team time of 17:36 but fell a few seconds short of advancing to Semistate. A strong showing from runners 1-4, Zach Taylor (17:04), Brendan Pruitt (17:31, PR), Marko Enriquez (17:33), and Josh Frabutt (17:33, PR) put the Indians in the mix for the upset but the field of larger schools was too much to overcome. Zach Taylor’s performance earned him a spot in the Semistate next weekend representing the boys team.

Semistate will be run at Huntington University next Saturday at 10 am and 10:45 am respectively.
