Make no mistake … the Boys Varsity Swimming and Diving team is much improved and on-track to contend for a Sectional title this season! Although the final score tonight was not in their favor, the Indians proved that this will be a magical season. The meet began with a solid victory in diving by Jacob Hazel. The medley relay of Johnny Bossler, Sammie Sierra, Gage Hannewyk and Dave Fermander set the pace with a convincing win. Sammie Sierra showed his strength by stepping back onto the blocks for a convincing win with Campbell Jones close in tow. Tommy Helm found his stride in the 200 IM alongside Bossler and Chris Achkar. Hannewyk delivered in a close 50 alongside Jaylen Knapp-Petty and Charlie Peterson. Hannewyk and Achkar muscled forward in the 100 fly while Fernander, Knapp-Petty and Peterson defended the 100 free. Johnny Bossler made the 500 free look smooth and easy while our backstroking core of Fernander and Jones gave it their all. The team of “Tommy’s” (Tibalski and Helms) soared ahead in the 100 breast as Sammie Sierra sealed victory in that event. When the final scores were calculated, the Indians were defeated, but not before defending their home pool with courage and might. They truly “dropped the hammer!”
