St. Joe showed that they will not quit when they take the field, no matter the odds. Some early mishaps, including a 70-yard John Paul Lewis touchdown that was called back, allowed New Prairie to quickly gain a 21-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. The Indians regrouped and scored on a short pass from Ashton Ruszkowski to John Driscoll. Then Ruszkowski punched it into the end zone for the 2-point conversion. New Prairie answered with another touchdown before the half, but the extra point was wide. St. Joe went into the half down 27-8.

In the second half, New Prairie again scored to make a 34-8 game. St. Joe pushed back and scored on a Ruszkowski run. Patrick Oliva kicked the extra point. Then it was 34-15. On New Prairie’s next possession, St. Joe defense force the Cougars to punt. Gavin Stefanek blocked the punt, and Luke Leonard landed on the ball in the end zone. Again, Oliva kicked the extra point. St. Joe went into the 4th quarter down 2 scores.

New Prairie scored their last touchdown and kicked their extra point in the fourth. St. Joe then scored on a run by John Driscoll. The 2-point conversion was not successful. St. Joe kicked an onside which Gavin Stefanek recovered, and Indians were back in business. Moving backwards, St. Joe got pinned inside their own 10, John Driscoll busted 90 yards into the end zone. Unfortunately, a yellow hanky lay back at the 25 yard line calling back another touchdown. The Indians fought all the way, but tonight was not their night.

Indians will get back to work preparing for the next few weeks on the road. Go, Indians! Keep striving. Keep representing. Keep improving.
