The words of NFL coach Herm Edwards struck a chord with the Indians on Saturday. St. Joe won an exciting home game as the JV team was able to control the line of scrimmage and shutout the New Prairie Cougars. The game was knotted up at 0-0 in the 4th quarter when an immutable defensive line including Caleb Boyd, Nick Belmarez, and Hunter Dawson stopped New Prairie on the one-inch line to take over possession with the longest field in front of them. Marvin Lopez engineered a 99 yard drive featuring key receptions by John O’Shaughnessy and Antonio Morrell. Lopez finished the job himself on a 60 yard run to scored the game’s only touchdown with 3 minutes remaining in the contest. Defensive tenacity was the key to victory with interceptions by John O’Shaughnessy and Tom Eck. Next Saturday, the JV team travels to one Elkhart.
