South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV bested Concord in a high-scoring affair, 14-6.
Concord got on the board in the first inning when Hunter Dutton doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. In the third Jack Quinn drew a walk, scoring one run, Dutton induced Gabe Yonto to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Frank Pennino singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Keagan Frick doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Zach Kennedy led the South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV to victory on the mound. He went three innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking zero. Jared Cain and Gavin Stefanek entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Dutton took the loss for Concord. He allowed six hits and ten runs over three innings.
South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV tallied 12 hits in the game. Breydon Zielinski, Pennino, Frick, and Kennedy each managed multiple hits for South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV. Zielinski led South Bend St. Joseph Indians JV with three hits in four at bats.
